10 YA books you should read

Let me just make this clear: I absolutely love books. My favourite genre is Young Adult, so that’s why I’m doing a list of YA books you should definitely read. These ones had me hooked from the start, and I simply couldn’t put them down. Warning: may cause non-stop reading. (This list is in no specific order.)

  • Thirteen reasons why – Jay Asher

This book’s about suicide, and talks about the reasons why a girl wants to kill herself. It gives a very strong message and really makes you start thinking about your own words and things you did. Remember: everything affects everything.

+ there’s also the new and popular Netflix series, which is called the same as the book.

  • The Boy in the Striped Pajamas – John Boyne

About a boy, who’s the son of a nazi commander & another boy, who’s a jew and in the concentration camp of the nazi father. They become friends and a lot of stuff happens. Warning: this will make you cry.

+ the movie is really good!

  • Harry Potter – J.K. Rowling

No explanation needed, these ones are just incredible!

+ make sure you watch all the movies (if you haven’t already of course.)

  • Maze Runner – James Dashner

Also no explanation needed I think.

+ the first two movies are out & the third one’s coming in February next year!

  • Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins

The same as the two previous books.

+ all the movies are nice too!

  • The Sword of Summer – Rick Riordan

About a boy who dies and ends up in the Walhalla. Craziness ensues.

  • Carry On – Rainbow Rowell

Gay & wonderful, with tons of magic!

  • I’ll Give You the Sun – Jandy Nelson

About two twins who find love and their way back to each other. Beautiful quotes, characters and storylines!

  • Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda – Becky Albertelli

A boy meets another boy on the internet and finds out who he is. He may be a little bit in love with him. (It’s so cute.)

  • Fallen – Lauren Kate

You may know these books because of the horrible movie, but don’t fear; the books are way better! This is about angels, love, death and being different. The story is really unique and well written.

+ don’t watch the movie.

Kisses,
Julia
